Hi there, I'm Kira Shepherd. When my kids were little, I spent a lot of time at the health care clinic. Children need an exam when they hurt themselves or run a high fever. Any other distressing symptoms are also best explored by a qualified physician. Thankfully, my local health care clinic always helped reassure me that the kids were healthy and developing well. I will share information about common diagnostic procedures and treatments performed at health care clinics. I will talk about alternatives, like going to the hospital or treating at home. My site will cover common symptoms and complications caused by a wide range of illness and injuries. Please visit my site often to learn more information. Thank you.
When women think about their overall health, all too many forget to take into account their reproductive health. It can be an embarrassing subject for many; however, it is important that you take note of possible conditions. If you may be experiencing any of these health conditions, it is important to seek medical attention quickly.
1. Yeast Infection
The yeast infection is one of the most common vaginal infections that includes symptoms like itching and white, clumpy discharge. Yeast infections are a result of growing yeast cells in the vagina. If you experience any of these symptoms in addition to pain when you urinate or irritation around the labia, you should seek medical help. Most of these infections are easily treated with an anti-fungal medication in the form of a cream or oral tablet.
Cervicitis refers to inflammation of the cervix, which is the barrier between the vagina and the uterus. This condition is not necessarily the result of an infection, but it can be a symptom of a condition like gonorrhea. You might realize that you have cervicitis if you experience brown, green, or yellow discharge. Also, look out for painful urination or abnormal vaginal bleeding. Treatment may require antibiotics or treatment for an STI.
3. Vaginal Prolapse
While not extremely common, many women do experience this condition during which the vagina expands into other parts of the body. Vaginal prolapse may also cause the uterus to exit the body through the vaginal opening. Unfortunately, many women do not experience any symptoms when this happens, save for a backache. Most commonly, this results from childbirth or menopause. Kegel exercises can prevent this by keeping the pelvic muscles strong.
One of the most common vaginal conditions is vaginismus, a condition in which the muscles around the vagina contract. This can make it extremely difficult to insert a tampon or have sexual intercourse. Many women with the condition even report that they struggle to go in for their regular Pap smears. If you notice pain or tightness during sex, this could be the answer. In many cases, the condition is treated with Kegel exercises that encourage you to relax the pelvic floor. Some doctors may even recommend the use of dilators.
There is no need to be embarrassed about these health conditions. Your reproductive health is just as important as every other type. Ignoring these conditions could lead to worsening symptoms.Share
